Circle-T Network

The CIRCLE-T Network is a growing European community and shared database connecting youth theatres, theatre-makers and organisations interested in more sustainable and circular approaches to theatre-making.

Members of the network will have access to links and contact details of other CIRCLE-T Network members, making it easier to connect directly, ask for resources, and offer their own materials, equipment or other resources for sharing, hire or leasing. The network also provides a space for members to share their own Circular Journey — their experiences, practices and solutions for reducing waste, reusing materials and integrating sustainability into theatre-making.

By connecting organisations across Europe, the CIRCLE-T Network aims to make cooperation and resource-sharing easier while supporting the exchange of practical knowledge and sustainable theatre practices.

The National Theatre School of Ireland connects the CIRCLE-T Network with professional theatre education, emerging artists and the wider performing arts sector. As the project coordinator, GSA supports the integration of circular economy principles into theatre training and helps translate sustainable practices into methods that can be used by future actors, designers and theatre-makers. Its extensive education, outreach and international cooperation activities make GSA an important bridge between youth theatre, professional practice and theatre education.

Within the Network, GSA helps spread the CIRCLE-T methodology and encourages theatre-makers to rethink production through reuse, resource efficiency and more responsible design choices.

Fundacja Varsztatovnia connects the CIRCLE-T Network with Poland’s cultural education, creative and community sectors. The organisation works at the intersection of arts, education and social innovation, creating opportunities for young people and emerging artists to develop their creative practice while engaging with contemporary social challenges.

Within CIRCLE-T, Varsztatovnia contributes to developing and promoting practical ways of introducing circular economy principles into the creative sector. Its work focuses on making sustainable methods accessible to cultural organisations and theatre-makers through methodologies, good practices and tools that support reuse, waste reduction and more responsible creative production. Varsztatovnia also helps expand the Network in Poland by connecting CIRCLE-T with local cultural organisations, educators and theatre practitioners.

Droichead Youth Theatre (DYT) brings the perspective of young theatre-makers directly into the CIRCLE-T Network. Working with young people in Drogheda, DYT provides a practical environment in which circular theatre methods can be tested, adapted and used in real productions. It is also connected to the wider Irish youth theatre sector, creating opportunities to share sustainable practices beyond the immediate CIRCLE-T partnership.

Through CIRCLE-T, DYT has already experimented with circular production methods in its performance Stasis, including reusing costumes from previous productions, repurposing materials for set design and reducing production waste. This makes DYT an important example of how circular economy principles can work in everyday youth theatre practice.

}}CHALLEDU brings expertise in game-based learning, environmental education and circular economy to the CIRCLE-T Network. The organisation develops games, educational tools and participatory methodologies addressing social and environmental challenges and has previous experience integrating circular economy concepts directly into game design and educational activities.

Within CIRCLE-T, CHALLEDU helps transform sustainability concepts into interactive and accessible learning experiences. Its contribution demonstrates how gamification can help young people and theatre-makers explore issues such as resource use, reuse, environmental impact and sustainable production while connecting organisations from the cultural, educational and game-design sectors. CHALLEDU is also responsible for developing the CIRCLE-T digital game, which applies these ideas directly to theatre-making.
