Excited to join Circle-T!

I think I can speak for all of our members when I say that we are delighted to be taking part in the Circle-T project for sustainability in theatre! It’s an honour to work with so many other talented groups and individuals to create something wonderful that highlights the benefits of green theatre!

Who are we?

Droichead Youth Theatre is a small youth theatre based in Drogheda who have produced and directed a wide variety of plays and drama productions. We love to empower young people and create brand new plays and concepts that leave a deep impact on our audiences.

Our project: stasis

For our Saturday group we have sixteen members all working towards our Circle-T play, ‘Stasis’. ‘Stasis’ is a cautionary tale on the consequences of artificial machinery and pollution and their dangers to our sovereignty as human beings. We’ve played with many aspects of sustainable theatre, such as reusing costumes from previous productions, building a repurposeful set and ensuring that little to no waste comes from this project.

storytelling with purpose

We’re particularly interested in the ability to tell a story that both informs and warns our audience about the throes of living in a post-modern land such as the one presented in ‘Stasis’. As I write this, our members are putting scenes on their feet, using the languages of movement and sound to heighten the atmosphere of the show. It’s so wonderful to see such wonderful and inventive dramaturgy and acting and I can’t wait to see what comes from it!
